A special thank you to the Town of Los Gatos!
A special thank you to the Town of Los Gatos!
Last year, 2021, while we were walking in downtown Los Gatos, my son Benjamin’s 7-year-old lab, Sydney, insisted on entering this lovely store. No reason! As we entered, we noticed that there was a sign for subleasing. Deena and I just turned down an opportunity at another location and were a little down. Dogs have special ways to cheer us up!
A year and a half later, through demo, remodeling, and hard work, we are now a few weeks from opening “Chez Philippe”. Interesting journey, full of very nice people that believed in us and cheered us on.
One of those special people was Brenda Molineux, our dear landlord, who was so worried about us opening the restaurant. She mentioned to us that we reminded her of her adventures in the late 80s as she was an accountant and opened a catering business with her friend. She was very excited about being the first Chez Philippe customer. We know she’s looking at us from heaven excited to see it all come together.
A special thank you to the Town of Los Gatos who, in the middle of the pandemic, has been so helpful and encouraging.
We are looking forward to meeting the Los Gatos community.
Chef Philippe and Deena
I graduated in ’84 from a 4 years qualification degree in classical French culinary school of Paris, France, Le Cordon Bleue. I worked ever since in various parts of the restaurant business: management, chef, host, bartender, owner and co-owner. I moved to Los Gatos five years ago after 30 year in Palo Alto with my three boys. My youngest son is still in High School (LGHS virtual!), my middle son in UC Santa Barbara and my oldest in UC Davis, last year in Law school. I quickly fell in love with the city and to my surprise; I didn’t see many French dining options
My passion and what I love to do is to bring the French experience to people without necessarily the high cost, Brasserie type or bistro. My customers always say “it felt like we went to Paris tonight!” and this is what I am looking to bring to Los Gatos.
